Xstrata: Mount Isa Copper - Installation of New Rotary Holding Furnace, Mount Isa QLD

Xstrata awarded Monadelphous the contract for mechanical, piping and structural installation of all components associated with the No 2 Rotary Holding Furnace. The project was undertaken over a six month period (March 2006 to September 2006) meeting the required shutdown deadline to tie in with the existing facility. The contract was for the installation of the new furnace and the associated pipe work. Considerable modifications were undertaken to the existing tapping floor and furnace to fit the new vessel.

The installation of the new rotary holding furnace was completed with no lost time injuries.
