Western Metals Zinc: Maintenance Services, Western Australia

Western Metals operates the Kapok and Pillara lead and zinc mines on the Lennard Shelf in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Pillara is located 35km east of Fitzroy Crossing and Kapok a further 45km east.

Monadelphous had an onsite workforce of approximately 75 people who maintain the Pillara processing plant, the underground materials handling facility at Kapok and the underground mobile mining fleet and fixed plant at both sites. Underground mining equipment maintained includes boggers, drill rigs, mine haulage trucks and service vehicles. Fixed plant maintained includes pumps, valves, tanks and piping, ventilation fans, compressors, power distribution equipment at low/high voltage. Light vehicles maintenance and repair services are carried at both sites. Monadelphous supplies management and shutdown support services from Perth.

    Monadelphous and Western Metals founded their agreement on a co-operative close working approach to doing business. This arrangement has been fundamental to the successful development of Monadelphous services on the Lennard Shelf and has fostered an environment of trust and teamwork between the parties.
