In January 2005, Monadelphous was awarded the shutdown, minor works and supplementary maintenance contract with HIsmelt Operations. Rio Tinto operates the facility on behalf of its joint venture partners.

The scope of the contract includes on-site supervision, planning and works execution. As principal contractor Monadelphous is responsible for all aspects of the shutdown including planning, management and execution.
