Central Queensland Ports Authority (CQPA): Gladstone Port #3 Rail Receival, Galdstone QLD

  • Significant Alliance Crew of over 350 employees
  • Delivered ahead of schedule

The Central Queensland Ports Authority, which governs the Port of Gladstone, is undergoing its largest ever capital works program to manage the increase in coal exports from the Central Queensland region. The completion of the RG Tanna’s third rail unloading station enables an additional 20-25 Mtpa of rail unloading capacity.

The RR#3 Alliance was formed between CQPA, Monadelphous and Golding Contractors to construct the 3rd rail receival station. The contract comprised the civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works for the project. The works included the rail receival pit and unloading station, distribution conveyors and transfer towers, substations and control room. Site piling works commenced in March 2006 and the receival station was scheduled for hand over to CQPA Operations in November 2006. The Alliance saw a significant number of employees mobilised to site including approximately 50 management and support personnel and 350 skilled workers.
