BHP Billiton Iron Ore: Rapid Growth Project 2 (RGP2), Port Hedland WA
Monadelphous commenced work on the RGP2 project in mid 2004. This project is part of BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Asset Development Projects that will upgrade existing port facilities to handle increased production capacity from the Company’s ongoing mine expansions. Monadelphous was awarded the construction works associated with this expansion through competitive tender. The works included a variety of modifications and complex retrofits. Modification to the ore handling facilities at Nelson Point and the installation of a new car dumper and associated systems at Finucane Island. The port remained fully operational during this project. The majority of works were undertaken in shutdown conditions that required tight schedules to ensure production levels were maintained. The project was successfully completed in mid 2006. |
