Monadelphous were originally part of a successful joint venture with Broadspectrum and Fluor Australia (MBFjv) which held a comprehensive operations contract at Olympic Dam. This contract reached a milestone of two million man hours LTI free over an eight year period. When the contract was relet the Monadelphous Roxby Downs Operation secured a 15 month major contract with a two year option for extension with BHP Billiton at Olympic Dam.

Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a multi-mineral ore body. The underground mining operation is highly mechanised, with automated rail transportation and underground crushing.

The contract scope includes on-site workshop services, trades labour and supervision, cranes and crane services, site scaffolding, major shutdowns, lump sum maintenance, backfill labour services and adhoc services. Lump sum maintenance project work includes maintenance to the refining operation, underground mining support, crushing circuit, concentrator and hydromet smelter and the utilities including water treatment and tailings.
