  • Workforce peaked at 350 trade’s people
  • Exotic material pipe and tank welding

The Ravensthorpe Nickel Project (RNP) is the mine, treatment plant and associated infrastructure to produce a mixed nickel and cobalt product. RNP uses an enhanced pressure acid leach process which will provide semi processed product that will be shipped from the Port of Esperance to Queensland’s Yabulu Refinery near Townsville.

Monadelphous was awarded the construction contract for the sulphuric acid plant, as part of this project by Aker Kvaerner Chemetics. Site works commenced in July 2005. The multi discipline construction package involved structural erection, mechanical equipment installation, piping, ductwork and tankage. The work involved a substantial amount of pressure vessels and high temperature operations. As a result there was a large amount of exotic materials on the project.

This project was completed on time in December 2006.
